The Columbus Grove, Ohio, native took first in the event with 3,907 points, the third best performance in Mountaineer history. She won two events in the competition (the 800 meter run in 2:23.24 and the high jump with a BIG EAST qualifying leap of 1.68 meters). She also qualified in the long jump with a personal best of 5.77 meters.
Stechschulte's score was an NCAA provisional qualifying score and is one of the highest scores in the nation so far this season. Stechschulte competed at the NCAA Championship last March in Fayetteville and took 16th in the pentathlon with 3,874 points.
