Another Great Mountaineer Year

West Virginia University athletic teams ignited the Mountaineer spirit nationwide during the past year. To recognize these accomplishments, alumni and friends from near and far will gather Tuesday, Feb. 27, for a special "Another Great Mountaineer Year" celebration.

Nearly 40 WVU Alumni Association chapters and constituent groups will host game-watching parties during the nationally televised WVU-Pitt basketball game as part of this special celebration. Alumni and friends will also have the opportunity to watch a special DVD collection of WVU football highlights provided by the WVU Alumni Association and the WVU Athletic Department. The game will be televised on Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. on ESPNU.

"Our athletic teams continue to earn national accolades," said Steve Douglas, president and chief executive officer, WVU Alumni Association. "We are very proud of the accomplishments of our young men and women athletes. This is a great way for our alumni to show their support of their alma mater and show their Mountaineer pride - no matter where they may be."

From Los Angeles to Boston, the Mountaineer faithful will be participating in this special celebration. This is the second year that alumni chapters have hosted the event. Last year, thousands of alumni throughout the country gathered together to watch the Mountaineers beat the Pitt Panthers.
