For the week, Owens averaged 18.3 points and 7.7 rebounds and shot 42.9% from 3-point range. In the 76-71 overtime win at Louisville, Owens scored a career-best 30 points including five 3-pointers and seven clutch free throws at the end of regulation and overtime. In the 57-46 win at Pitt, Owens scored 19 points, all in the second half, and grabbed eight rebounds and tallied five 3-point field goals in the win. In the Cincinnati win she scored six points, grabbed six caroms, had four assists and recorded two steals.
Owens currently leads the league in 3-point field goals made with 83 and averages 2.83 per contest, amongst the top in the NCAA.
Owens is the second Mountaineer to garner the conference player of the week award. Fellow junior Yinka Sanni was named the league's player of the week January 15.
WVU, with its first round bye this Saturday, will play the winner of No. 5 Louisville vs. No. 12 St. John's, Sunday, March 4, at Noon, on ESPNU.
