Beilein Update

The latest with regards to the rumored agreement between the University of Michigan and West Virginia head basketball coach John Beilein.

Multiple media outlets have reported in the past 24 hours that Beilein, who just finished his fifth year at West Virginia, has accepted an offer to become Michigan's next head coach. While neither school has confirmed that Beilein accepted the job, has learned some of the details of the ongoing courtship.

Reportedly, the Wolverines have offered Beilein a contract in the neighborhood of $1.3 million. The deal with Michigan would not include a buyout, which has been a sticking point for Beilein in his negotiations with West Virginia.

Beilein has also reportedly received an offer to stay with the Mountaineers. In fact, the deal with West Virginia may be worth more financially than the deal with Michigan, but would still include a buyout clause. It is believed that Beilein would like the buyout -- currently at $2.5 million -- completely removed from his deal.

The coach is scheduled to meet with his players this afternoon in Morgantown. will continue to cover this story throughout the day.
