Women's Recruiting Class Ranked

West Virginia University's 2007-08 women's basketball recruiting class has been ranked No. 22 nationally by The Collegiate Girls Basketball Report.

"We're very happy with the ranking." coach Mike Carey said. "We feel we've brought in quality, not only on the floor, but also in the classroom. I'm excited for this group of newcomers for the upcoming season."

WVU is one of five Big East schools ranked in the top 25 by The Collegiate Girls Basketball Report. Other BIG EAST schools were Connecticut (No. 6), USF (No. 15), Notre Dame (No. 16) and Syracuse (No. 17).

The five newcomers entering the Mountaineer program this year are: Liz Repella (5-11, G Steubenville, Ohio), Marie Malone (6-2, C, Virginia Beach, Va.), Sarah Miles (5-7, G, San Antonio, Texas), Ashley Murphy (5-11, F, Okaloosa Walton CC) and newly signed transfer Takisha Granberry (5-11, G, Virginia).

Granberry, the latest Mountaineer recruit, will sit out this season due to NCAA transfer rules and have one year of eligibility remaining come 2008-09. She comes to WVU from Virginia where she played for the Cavaliers from 2005-07, averaging 6.8 points and 3.0 rebounds per contest in 65 games.

Coming out of high school, Granberry was rated the 18th-best player in the country by All-Star Girl's Report and the nation's 22nd-best prospect via Blue Star Index. A Parade All-American, Granberry averaged 16.8 points and 10.3 rebounds per contest at West Charlotte High as a senior.
