Maryland Game on the Deuce

The West Virginia-Maryland football game on Saturday, October 5, will be televised by ESPN2, it was announced today. The game at Mountaineer Field will have a noon kickoff.

Of the remaining games, only the East Carolina and Virginia Tech contests are currently slated for live telecast, but several games, such as Miami, Syracuse, Boston College and Pitt are still being viewed closely as candidates for broadcast.

As part of the Varsity Weekend festivities surrounding the Maryland game, the 12th class of the WVU Sports Hall of Fame will be honored in pregame induction ceremonies. The event is open to the public beginning at 9:45 a.m. at the North Gate of Mountaineer Field.

That group includes basketball standouts Willie Akers, Eddie Beach and Rosemary Kosiorek, track pioneer Barney Gedwillis and gold medal sprinter and current NFL Oakland Raider James Jett.

Members of the 1982 Mountaineer football team that upset Oklahoma and played in the Gator Bowl are also being honored that weekend.
