The Touchdown Club held a similar lunch before the first home game, and head coach Rich Rodriguez spoke at that meeting. According to Touchdown Club treasurer Jerry Ragen, the event was one of the most informative he's ever participated in.
The West Virginia coach speaking at the lunch will go in-depth on the Mountaineers and will give a preview of the next day's opponent. He will also answer any questions from those in attendance.
The cost of the lunch is just $10, but it is open only to members of the Morgantown Touchdown Club. The cost of a membership to the Touchdown Club is $20 a year and is available to anyone who wishes to join.
The Morgantown Touchdown Club was founded in 1958 by a group of WVU fans including the late Jack Fleming, the legendary Voice of the Mountaineers.
Besides the "Lunch With the Coach," the Touchdown Club also holds the annual football and basketball banquets in December and March respectively. Those too are only open to Touchdown Club members. This year's football banquet is scheduled for Dec. 7 at the Puskar Center. The Touchdown Club also is planning an elimination dinner in April.
All money raised by the Morgantown Touchdown Club goes directly into WVU's scholarship fund to further endow grant-in-aids for student/athletes.
