More Interviews In Store

In addition to Central Michigan head coach Butch Jones, who will have a second interview on Thursday, at least two other possible candidates for the vacant head coaching job at West Virginia are on the boards.

Jones, who coached the Chippewas in the Motor City Bowl against Purdue on Wednesday, will travel to Morgantown, W. Va. on Thursday for his second meeting with WVU officials. Among those expected to participate is athletic director Ed Pastilong, who did not travel to Phoenix on Wednesday with the official traveling party. Deputy Athletic Director Mike Parsons was on that flight.

Two other names has surfaced as possible interviewees. Boise State head coach Chris Petersen, whose Broncos dropped a 41-38 decision to East Carolina in the Hawaii Bowl, has been tabbed by several sources as being on West Virginia's list.

Another new name that could be under consideration is current NFL assistant coach Jim Haslett. An eight-year NFL veteran as a player, Haslett has had stints as an assistant with the Pittsburgh Steelers (1997-99) and St. Louis Rams (2006-07) surrounding a six-year assignment as the head coach of the New Orleans Saints.
