Eye On The Future

West Virginia's offensive backfield has become a lot less crowded with the graduation of Owen Schmitt and the departure of Steve Slaton for the NFL. Will this Mountaineer commitment be ready to help fill the gap?

Terence Kerns has been working to reach a qualifying level on his test score and grade point average at Hargrave Military Academy. After playing this fall for the prep football team, Kerns is focusing on doing everything he can to get the required scores.

"I have taken the test and I have a good score there," Kerns told BlueGoldNews.com. "I am at Hargrave for the second semester, and I just need to keep up what I am doing to raise my GPA enough to qualify."

Should he be successful, and as of now he appears on track to do so, Kerns would give West Virginia some attractive options for its offense. Big enough to run as a power back, and fast enough to play as the superback, Kerns could line up at multiple positions for the Mountaineers.

There's also no question at this time that Kerns will wind up anywhere but West Virginia.

"I have talked to Coach Stewart since he got the head coaching job," Kerns said. "I was happy to see that. I intend to be at West Virginia this summer."
