Sanni Earns Conference Honor

West Virginia senior center Yinka Sanni has earned the Big East Conference's player of the week award after leading the Mountaineers to a 2-0 week.

Sanni nabbed Player of the Week honors for the first time this season and second time in her career. The senior center averaged 21.5 points and 15.5 rebounds in 34.0 minutes of action in wins over Marquette (68-63) on Jan. 16 and St. John's (68-44) on Jan. 19. Sanni shot 57.1 percent (16-of-28) from the floor and was 11-of-13 from the free throw line.

Against St. John's, Sanni poured in a game-high 22 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, including six on the offensive glass. In the Marquette win, she scored a team-high 21 points and brought down a career-best 16 rebounds. Sanni was also a perfect 7-of-7 from the foul line. The Chicago Heights, Ill. native has scored in double figures in 16 of WVU's 17 games this season.
