Merging Systems

New West Virginia offensive coordinator Jeff Mullen has some ideas in how he will mesh West Virginia's existing offensive scheme with that of Wake Forest's, and much of it centers around the skills of returning quarterback Patrick White.

Mullen, who was the quarterback coach at Wake Forest, believes that many of the things the Demon Deacons threw at opponents will be adaptable to West Virginia's offense. He wants to be careful, however, to make sure that he doesn't change things just for the sake of change. The tweaks that he has in mind will go toward attacking defenses that overload against the run, and also to take advantage of those things that White does well.

In this interview, Mullen discusses the way in which he plans to incorporate the changes, and describes the process by which he brought White into the plan at its inception.
