Rebuilding All Over

While the challenge of rebuilding West Virginia's defensive line figures to be the most pressing task of the spring, finding players to fill the gaps in the defensive secondary won't be far behind.

That's the task of cornerbacks coach David Lockwood, who will have to replace starters at all three back end defensive positions. Coupled with the replacements required at Steve Dunlap's spur and bandit positions, and it's not a stretch to say that the rebuilding process at the back of the defense will be almost as difficult as the one up front.

The one advantage Lockwood has over defensive line coach Bill Kirelawich is that he has a bit more depth returning. However, the task of assembling the right group, and having them prepared to play, is always job one of any spring practice session.

Lockwood sat down with BlueGoldNews.com recently to discuss this and other aspects of his return to the Mountaineer program.
