WVU Has Two On Outland Watch List

West Virginia offensive linemen Greg Isdaner and Ryan Stanchek are the focal points of the Mountaineer offensive line, and the pair are in the spotlight again on Friday after being named to the watch list of another post-season award.

The Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) has released its 2008 Outland Trophy Watch List, and both Isdaner and Stanchek are on the seventy-name list. Stanchek was a 2007 FWAA All-American.

The Outland Trophy has been awarded to the best interior lineman in college football since 1946. The winner is selected by the FWAA's All-America Committee, which selects the association's 25-man All-America team and picks the three Outland Trophy finalists and the winner.

Tackles, guards and centers are eligible for consideration for the award. Candidates may be added or removed during the season

Other Big East players on the watch list include George Bussey and Eric Wood of Louisville, Terrill Byrd of Cincinnati, Anthony Davis of Rutgers, Arthur Jones of Syracuse, and Gus Mustakas of Pitt.

The Football Writers Association of America, a non-profit organization founded in 1941, consists of more than 900 men and women across North America who cover college football for a living. The membership includes journalists, broadcasters and publicists, as well as key executives in all the areas that involve the game. The FWAA works to govern areas that include gameday operations, major awards, a national poll and its annual All-America team.
