There is lots of news on the injury front as several key Mountaineers were in either red (no participation) or green (limited participation) jerseys today at practice.
On defense, Will linebacker J.T. Thomas was dressed in red and by all indications would be held out of the afternoon workout. BlueGoldNews.com will update Thomas's status following Bill Stewart's press conference this evening.
Defensive lineman Pat Liebig, less than 24 hours from having his appeal for a sixth year of eligibility approved, was dressed in green, but still looked to be taking part in a handful of drills.
Linebackers Reed Williams and Archie Sims continue to be dressed in green. Williams is recovering from dual shoulder surgeries in the offseason, and it is still unknown whether or not he will be able to play in the season opener against Villanova on August 30.
Offensively, wide receiver J.D. Woods was back on the field after being held out of Saturday's scrimmage with a collarbone injury. Fullback Maxwell Anderson was also back in a white jersey.
Fullback/tight end Will Johnson is no longer wearing a boot on the lower half of his leg, but is still in a red jersey. Head coach Bill Stewart noted on Tuesday evening that he expects Johnson to be full-go later this week.
Fullback Ryan Clarke and wide receiver Wes Lyons were both dressed in red and taking part in cardiovascular exercises on the infamous "Muscle Beach". Lyons is recovering from a recent arthroscopic surgery.
The Mountaineers are slated to have an afternoon scrimmage complete with Big East officials. Tailback Noel Devine wore a gold (no contact) jersey during Saturday's scrimmage, but was dressed in white today.
In the open portion of practice, junior college transfer Zach Hulce was running with the number two offense.
