Wrestling Off to Great Start: Navy Win, EWL Honor

WVU's Seth Lisa captured the EWL's Wrestler of the Week Award for his performance at the Navy Invitational last Saturday. The nationally ranked Mountaineer squad took five individual titles while winning the meet.

Lisa, a redshirt freshman, won the 125-pound title with four wins, including a 6-4 victory over Jared Opfer of Kent State in the semis and a 4-1 decision over ACC champ George Cintron of North Carolina State in the finals. Both Opfer and Cintron hold national rankings.

The Mountaineers won four other weight classes at the meet, including Shane Cunanan and Brandon Lauer, who were co-champions at 141 pounds, Billy Smith at 149, Greg Jones at 174, and Ryan Wilman 184.

WVU is in the top 15 of every major wrestling ranking service in the country. The Mountaineers travel to Las Vegas for the Las Vegas Invitational on December 6th and 7th.
