Player Of The Game - Duquesne

WVU's sophomore swingman scored a career high 33 points in the Mountaineers' loss to Duquesne on Monday.

Playing on the same court where he set a high school playoff scoring record, Schifino tossed in 21 of his 33 points in the second half to fuel West Virginia's rally that came up just a bit short. Schifino's previous high was 20 points against Pitt last year.

The Pittsburgh native scored in a variety of manners against a Duquesne defense that was unable to contain him. Schifino hit two of four shots from three point range, swished midrange jumpers, and drove to the hoop in an excellent display of his offensive talents.

Although Schifino's performance was the most deserving of player of the game honors, some notice should also be given to the showing of true freshman Kevin Pittsnogle.

The lanky freshman scored 19 points on 8-12 shooting, including a perfect 3-3 from three point range.
