Leonard, White, Earn Honor Roll Spots

West Virginia put two players on the Big East Honor Roll of outstanding performers following the Mountaineers' 24-17 win over Rutgers.

Linebacker Anthony Leonard, playing in the place of injured Reed Williams, totaled a team-high nine tackles, including one for a loss, in his first career start. Leonard helped hold Rutgers' midline ground attack to just 72 total yards, and an average of 2.8 yards per carry.

With Williams out for the season due to lingering pain from offseason shoulder surgery, Leonard will be counted on to fill the middle linebacker spot for the remainder of the year.

In just short of three quarters of action, quarterback Patrick White completed 12 of 17 passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for a game-high 59 yards on 11 carries. Those yards moved White into second place on the NCAA career rushing chart for quarterbacks with 3,934 yards.

White, who was knocked from the game after sustaining a blow to the helmet, is expected to play against Syracuse this Saturday.
