Devine, Leonard on Big East Honor Roll

Only a monstrous day by Rutgers quarterback Mike Teel kept Noel Devine from copping Big East offensive player of the week honors.

Devine, who rushed for a career-high 207 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries in a 34-17 win against Auburn, was edged out by Teel, who tossed six TD passes in Rutgers' win over Pittsburgh. However, that didn't diminish the import of Devine's performance, which landed him a spot on the Big East Honor Roll. He had six runs of at least 20 yards, including a 30-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. Also included was a signature reverse-the-field scamper that took West Virginia out of a fourth quarter hole and set the Mountaineers up for the win over their SEC foe -- WVU's fourth consecutive such victory.

Anthony Leonard
Linebacker Anthony Leonard joined Devine on the honor roll with his outstanding defensive performance. The Pennsylvania native had a game- and career-high 16 tackles in the win, including 11 in the first half. Leonard led a WVU defense that limited the Tigers to 84 total yards in the second half.

Leonard has been a stalwart in the middle for WVU since replacing Reed Williams, who was forced to take a redshirt this year while recovering from off-season shoulder surgery.
