Big East Has The No. 1 Teams In Men's And Women's Basketball

Pittsburgh moved into the top spot this week in the two major men's basketball polls, Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today. The Connecticut women's team has been No. 1 every week this season. On the men's side, the Big East broke its own record when the number of ranked teams stretched to nine. West Virginia became the ninth team when it jumped into the AP poll at No. 25 and into the ESPN/USA Today ranking at No. 22.

Notre Dame's Home Win Streak Leads The Country

At 44 games, Notre Dame owns the longest active home winning streak in the nation. On Saturday, the Irish will try to make it 45 against Seton Hall at the Joyce Center and it will attempt to tie the league record for most consecutive home wins with 20. Pittsburgh won 20 straight Big East games at home from 2001-02 through '03-04.

ESPN's Big Monday Series Starts Monday

The Big Monday series on ESPN formally starts Jan. 12 when Notre Dame travels to Louisville. The Big East has been a fixture on Big Monday and this year's schedule of games may be the best ever. Each league team that is scheduled to appear on Big Monday over the next eight weeks is currently ranked in the national polls.

Big East Game of the Week Package Starts Saturday

Part of the Big East's comprehensive television coverage is a Game of the Week package on weekend afternoons that is carried in Big East markets and beyond for a 12th straight season. The schedule begins Saturday when West Virginia visits Marquette on Sunday and Pittsburgh hosts St. John's on Sunday. Both games start at noon ET. The Big East Network Game of the Week reaches one-third of the nation and 13 of the nation's top 34 markets on a regular basis.
