WVU, Rodriguez Ink New Deal

WVU and head football coach Rich Rodriguez have agreed upon and signed a new seven year contract. The deal assures that Rodriguez will coach the Mountaineers through the 2009 season.

The new contract will pay Rodriguez $700,000 next year, and include an anuual increase each yar after that. The deal includes $150,000 in base salary and $550,000 in guaranteed income from the Mountaineer Athletic Club, radio, television, Internet and other endorsements.

Rodriguez will also have the ability to earn additional compensation in incentives and summer camps.

The incentives include bonuses for graduation rates, team grade point averages, bowl appearances, Big East championships and season ticket sales.

The first year of the contract is a raise of $291,000 from the previous year of Rodriguez' contract.
