2009 Tentative Football Schedule

While not yet officially released, the dates for West Virginia's 2009 football schedule appear to be finalized.

West Virginia's tentative 2009 football schedule spans three months, includes two bye weeks and has four non-Saturday dates. An official announcement of the schedule is expected later today.

The tentative schedule, with five out of conference games, begins on Sept. 5 with a home game against Liberty and ends exactly three months later with a road trip to Rutgers on Dec. 5. In between, the Mountaineers will play one Thursday and three Friday contests, all of which will likely be seen on the ESPN family of networks. WVU hosts Colorado on Thursday, Oct. 1, and visits USF on Friday, Oct. 30. The Mountaineers travel to Cincinnati for a Friday, Nov. 13 contest and host Pitt two weeks later on Nov. 27.

WVU has two open weeks to break up the schedule on Sept. 26 and Nov. 21. The Mountaineers will also play just one game between Sept. 19 and Oct. 10 -- the Thursday night clash with Colorado.

WVU opens Big East play on Sat. Oct. 10 at Syracuse, then plays its final out of conference game against Marshall one week later.

Times and broadcast appearances will be announced at later dates, although the Friday games will, in all likelihood, be national broadcasts.
