Pitt: Quick Recap/Player of the Game

A Pittsburgh native earns our player of the game honors in WVU's 80-61 loss to Pitt.

Sophomore Drew Schifino was West Virginia's only consistent threat in the loss to the Panthers. Schifino scored 18 points on 6-11 shooting from the field, and was the only Mountaineer starter to shoot more than 50% from the field.

Schifino had three rebounds, four assists and a steal in 35 minutes of action.

Unfortunately for WVU, Schifino was about the only player on his game this evening. Pitt held the Mountaineers to 40% shooting from the field and forced WVU into seventeen turnovers. Pitt also relentlessly defended the three point line, limiting WVU to 5-22 from that range. Two of those threes came in the final minutes of the contest when the game was long since decided.

Pitt shot 63% from the floor and put four players in double figures as they continued to display the outstanding passing and team play that has pushed them to the top of the Big East.
