Mazzulla Back

West Virginia University men's basketball guard Joe Mazzulla has been reinstated to the Mountaineer basketball team, coach Bob Huggins announced today.

"Joe has done everything that has been asked of him on all fronts," says Huggins. "I believe he deserves to be back on our roster and play for the Mountaineers."

Mazzulla averaged 5.6 points and 3.8 assists in seven games last season before suffering a season ending shoulder injury. He has been granted a medical waiver for that year, and will still have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Mazzulla's reinstatement still leaves West Virginia one player short, as teammate Truck Bryant remains suspended from the team. Indications are, however, that Bryant could earn his way back to the squad, just as Mazzulla has, if he follows the same path and avoids further incidents.

Every player on the team, including Bryant, has reported and is enrolled for the fall semester.
