WVU Varsity Sports Report

Sophomore women's soccer player Blake Miller has been named the West Virginia University Athlete of the Week for her one-goal, one-assist night in leading the Mountaineers past No. 5 Penn State on Aug. 29.

Miller attempted a team high four shots in only 59 minutes. The forward's goal in the 58th minute against two-time All-American goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher of Penn State was the game-winner - the first of the season for Miller and seventh of her career. The one-goal, one-assist effort was the second of her career and the Mountaineers are 10-0-1 all-time when Miller scores a goal in a match. For her efforts, Miller also was named the Big East Conference's Offensive Player of the Week.
