First Week, First Award

It didn't take long for redshirt freshman Tyler Bitancurt to make his mark on the Big East conference.

Bitancurt was named Big East Special Teams Player of the Week after accounting for 15 of West Virginia's 33 points in the Mountaineers' 33-20 win against Liberty. The Springfield, Va., native was 4-for-4 on field goals, connecting from 38, 35, 45 and 36 yards, and made all three PATs he attempted in his collegiate debut.

Bitancurt's performance solidifed what was a question mark at the position coming into the season for the Mountaineers.
