Devine, Lazear Earn Conference Honors

West Virginia's Noel Devine earned offensive player of the week honors from the Big East conference while teammate Pat Lazear nabbed a spot on the league's honor roll on Monday.

Noel Devine scored two touchdowns and finished with 103 all-purpose yards in West Virginia's 34-13 win at Syracuse. He had his first career touchdown reception on the Mountaineers' first offensive play and added his Big East-leading seventh rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter. Devine finished with 91 rushing yards on 22 carries and had two receptions for 12 yards as the Mountaineers won their Big East opener.

For the season, Devine has 631 rushing yards and seven touchdowns, and is averaging 126.2 yards per contest and 6.6 yards per carry. He has caught 11 passes for another 72 yards.

Linebacker Pat Lazear four tackles and set up a Mountaineer touchdown with a 53-yard fumble return to earn a spot on the Big East's honor roll list of performers. He helped hold the Orange to 72 rushing yards.

Lazear has 27 tackles on the season, including 4.5 tackles for losses totaling 17 yards.
