Converted Receiver Makes Commitment

Another Louisiana native will make the trip to the Mountain State.

"I've wanted to go away to college, and West Virginia is a nice program," Perry Walker High product Milton Collins told "The school is good, and I liked seeing a different part of the country. I'm going to West Virginia."

Collins was recruited by Mountaineer assistant Calvin Magee, who is quickly establishing a West virginia beachhead in the Bayou State.

"Coach Magee is from my hometown," Collins said. "I like him a lot."

Collins, who expects to be a wide receiver in college, only played that position for one year at Walker High. Before that, he was a safety, but the transition wasn't difficult for him.

"It was pretty easy, really," Collins said of the switch. "The biggest thing to adjust to was blocking, which was tough. But catching the ball and running with it was no problem. That was natural."

Collins teamed with wide receiver Craig Davis at Walker High, forming a potent pass catching combination. Davis committed to LSU after switching from Miami earlier this week.

While Davis garnered more publicity, Collins may have more potential, in part due to his great speed, which is in the sub 4.4 range.
