West Virginia totaled four sacks and five other tackles for loss in WVU's regular-season ending win, which helped secure a Gator Bowl bid for the Mountaineers. Playing on West Virginia's pass defense package, Cooper had two tackles, including a big sack of Rutgers quarterback Tom Savage for a loss of twelve yards.
Perhaps even more key, however, was WVU's defense against Rutgers' wildcat package. West Virginia limited Scarlet Knight Mohamed Sanu to just 47 yards on 13 carries, and only once allowed anything approaching a big gain -- a run of 13 yards.
The West Virginia defense was also stellar on third down, as Rutgers converted just once in 15 tries.
In this post-game interview, Cooper discusses the success of the defense, West Virginia's strategy against Sanu, and playing in the tough weather conditions that prevailed throughout the contest.
