Notre Dame Player of the Game/Quick Recap

Patrick Beilein scored thirteen points to earn our player of the game honors as WVU narrowly missed upsetting Notre Dame at the WVU Coliseum on Tuesday.

Beilein hit four of six shots form the field, including three of four from three point range in just 18 minutes of action. Beilein added two assists and five rebounds and did not commit a turnover.

Beilein's excellent play off the bench was not quite enough for the Mountaineers, as they fell 56-55 to the Irish. WVU took their sole lead late in the game on Kevin Pittsnogle's third three pointer of the contest, but immediately yielded the lead back the Irish on the ensuing possession.

After rallying from a fifteen point second half deficit, WVU had a chance to win the game in the closing second's, but Drew Schifino's offbalance leaping and leaning shot was off target to the right as time expired.

The Mountaineers held the Irish to just 38% shooting from the field, but were only able to hit 40% of their own shots on the night. The game was a defensive battle throughout, with the teams combining for just 15 free throws during the game.
