WVU Adds 20th Signee

It took a week longer than anticipated, but Ishmael Banks was able to get his football letter of intent signed and accepted on Wednesday.

West Virginia University Football Coach Bill Stewart announced today signing of Ishmael Banks, a 6-0, 185, defensive back from Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va. Banks' letter of intent and acceptance were delayed while the NCAA reviewed the circumstances surrounding his scheduled official visit to the school

Banks was scheduled to visit WVU prior to Signing Day, Feb. 3rd, but was unable to fly out from Lynchburg, Va., due to weather conditions. His parents were able to drive to the WVU campus from Richmond, but when Banks' flights were cancelled, he was unable to join them. The NCAA does not allow visits by parents without the player involved, and thus Banks could not sign with West Virginia until the NCAA rules on the matter.

The NCAA did not have an official comment, but with his signature and accepted Letter of Intent, that situation appears to have been resolved.
