Butler On Naismith List

WVU senior Da'Sean Butler is one of 30 players on the mid-season list of candidates for the Naismith Trophy.

The Naismith Trophy presented by AT&T is given annually to the men's college basketball player of the year. This year, the award will be presented at the NCAA Men's Final Four in Indianapolis.

Butler is one of seven Big East players on the list, giving the conference more candidates than any other league in the nation.

Through 27 games this year, Butler is averaging a career-best 17.2 points per contest. He tallies 6.1 rebounds per game, and is sclose to a two-to-one assist to turnover ratio. Often drawing the toughest defensive assignments, he has recorded 24 steals and nine blocked shots.

The top 30 midseason men's list was compiled by the Atlanta Tipoff Club's Board of Selectors, comprised of leading basketball journalists from around the country. The board based its criteria on player performances this season.
