Making The Most Of His Chance

WVU forward Dan Jennings hadn't even played in eight of WVU's last ten games, but he came off the bench to provide a big play in the Mountaineers' win over Cincinnati.

Freshman forward Dan Jennings hit a tough stretch in the middle of the season, but a few words from head coach Bob Huggins put him back on track.

Huggins, always a straight shooter, told Jennings that the players who played would be the ones that worked hard in practice and improved. Jennings took those words to heart, and played well in practice over the past couple of weeks. That led to his chance against Cincinnati, and he responded well. coming on to battle UC's big front line, Jennings responded with four rebounds and a big basket off a rebound of a Devin Ebanks free throw miss. That hoop energized West Virginia's second half rally, cutting UC's lead to four. The Mountaineers followed that score up with eight consecutive points to go ahead by four, and were then able to blunt a final UC rally to get the win.

In this interview, Jennings discussed the rebound and score, and also described the difficulty of making the adjustment to not playing at times during his freshman season.
