Butler, Ebanks Earn Big East Season Honors

West Virginia senior Da'Sean Butler capped an outstanding regular season by being named to the six member all-Big East first team on Sunday.

Da'Sean Butler, an All-Big East second team pick last season, was his team's top scorer and clear floor leader. The 6-7 senior forward averaged a team-leading 17.2 ppg and 6.3 rebounds. WVU finished 24-6 overall and 13-5 in the Big East.

Butler started every game for WVU and averaged 35.8 minutes per outing. He also averaged 3.3 assists per contest, and led the team in both of those categories as well.

Joining Butler on the league first team were Georgetown's Greg Monroe, Notre Dame's Luke Harangody, USF's Dominique Jones, Syracuse's Wes Johnson and Villanova's Scottie Reynolds.

Devin Ebanks earned a spot on the league's third team. The sophomore averaged 12.4 points and a team best 8.3 rebounds per game, and also led the team in steals with 28. He made 75.7% of his free throws (best on the team for anyone with more than two attempts per game), and often drew the toughest defensive assignments.

Individual honors will be announced later this week.
