Truck Crash

West Virginia University basketball coach Bob Huggins has announced that sophomore guard Darryl "Truck" Bryant will miss the remainder of the 2009-10 basketball season after suffering a fracture of the fifth metatarsal in his right foot during Tuesday's practice.

"I feel sorry for Truck that this injury happened during this time of the season," Huggins said in a brief statement released by the school.

Bryant's loss leaves West Virginia with some issues at point guard. Joe Mazzulla, who has turned in several sparkling postseason performances, will likely get the start at the position, but with no other true point guards on the roster, either Da'Sean Butler or Devin Ebanks will be forced to give Mazzulla rest at the position. While either is capable of handling those duties, it could have an effect on the offensive end, where Butler has thrived while playing his true wing spot. It could also have major repercussions on the defensive end, where Washington's quick guards are expected to put pressure on WVU's tough man-to-man defense.

West Virginia will face the Huskies in the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 on Thursday, March 25, at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, N.Y., at 7:27 p.m.
