WVU then hit a downturn, as Seth Lisa (125) and Brandon Lauer (133) lost to the Mansueto brothers of Cleveland State. At 141, Shane Cunanan rallied to tie his bout with Edinboro on a takedown with two seconds to go, but Ace scored a fall in overtime to get the win.
At 149, WVU's Billy Smith scored a win over Cleveland State's Anthony Coleman, and that win seemed to energize the Mountaineer squad. Matt Lebe gutted out an upset win over Virginia Tech's Chris Stith at 157, Tom McMath decisioned Pitt's Francis Iorfido at 165, and Greg Jones scored a spectacular takedown and pin in just :36 seconds over Edinboro's Nate Yetzer.
Heavyweight Brent Miller then gained revenge over Cleveland State's Russ Davie with a 6-4 overtime win.
WVU has five wrestlers in the championship finals, and their other five wreslters are still alive in the wrestleback bracket.
WVU leads Edinboro by two points, 96-94, in the overall standings. Cleveland State is third with 60.
