EWL Session 3 Report

West Virginia put three wrestlers through to the third place matches, and had two others finish in fith place in the third round of the EWL Tournament.

At 125, Seth Lisa earned a 9-5 win over Lock Haven's Jim Collins to advance to the third place bout. His win wast matched by Matt Lauer at 133, who pinned Pitt's Mike Ciotti to get into the third place match.

Shane Cunanan made it three for three in the wrestleback as he defeated Clarion's Frank Edger.

At 187, Ryan Wilman lost on a takedown in the final two seconds of overtime to Alex Clemsen, then racked up an 11-3 win over Virginia Tech's Chad Hoare in the fifth place match.

At 197, Adrian Thompson was defeated by Cleveland State's Stipe Miocic, then bounced back to pin Virginia Tech's Shaun Guttridge for a fifth place finish.

In tonight's final session, WVU will have five wrestlers (Billy Smith, Tom McMath, Greg Jones, Matt Lebe and Brent Miller) vying for tournament championships, and three others battling for third place finishes.

In the team standings, Edinboron and West Virginia are tied at 115.5 points heading into the final session. The Fighting Scots hold an advantage, as they have all ten wrestlers active in tonight's session. Like WVU, Edinboro has five wrestlers in the championship round, but hold a 5-3 advantage in numbers in the third place bouts.
