The student-athletes selected represent 12 different sports at WVU. To be eligible for the honor, student-athletes must have competed in a Big East-sponsored sport, attained a minimum grade-point average of 3.00 for the preceding academic year and completed a minimum of two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters of academic work, with a total of 18 semester or 27 quarter credits.
In total, the conference honored 3,170 student-athletes for the 2009-10 academic year from the 16-school league, an increase of 508 student-athletes from the 2,662 named for the 2008-09 season.
