Norris, Shelton commit to WKU

New WKU head football coach Bobby Petrino has continued full speed ahead on the recruiting trail, adding two new commitments in the last two days.

Former three-star defensive back Josh Shelton joins 2013 wide receiver Nicholas Norris as the latest commitments for the Hilltopper football program.

Shelton, a Class of 2012 defensive back who originally committed to Mississippi out of high school, spent last year in prep school at Jirah Prep in Matthews, N.C.

The former Mount Juliet HS (Tenn.) standout had offers from Mississippi, Arkansas, Vanderbilt, and Middle Tennessee out of high school, among others.

Listed at 6-foot-2, 180 pounds with a 4.5 second 40-yard dash, Shelton will join WKU commits Juwan Gardner, Marcus Ward, and Dalton Patterson in the defensive backfield.

He'll have full eligibility (4 years) as a Hilltopper.

Norris is a 5-foot-10, 170 pound wide receiver from Booker T. Washington HS in Miami, Fla.

He's the third wide receiver commitment for new WKU head coach Bobby Petrino's spread offense, joining two-star Jalen Edwards and junior college signee Lonnie Turner.

Norris caught 31 passes for 644 yards and nine touchdowns as a senior.
