Hilltopper Hysteria set for Sat., Oct. 19.

The annual tip-off to Hilltopper and Lady Topper basketball seasons at WKU, Hilltopper Hysteria, will take place Saturday, October 19 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at E.A. Diddle Arena.

Bowling Green, Ky. — The annual tip-off to Hilltopper and Lady Topper basketball seasons at WKU, Hilltopper Hysteria, will take place Saturday, October 19 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at E.A. Diddle Arena. Admission and parking are free for everyone.

The first 500 fans will receive a free Hilltopper Hysteria t-shirt as they enter the arena courtesy of Coca-Cola and WKU Athletics.

Hilltopper Hysteria includes individual player and coach introductions for both programs, live scrimmages by both teams, a slam dunk contest and an autograph session with both teams to end the night. Hilltopper Hysteria also features performances from the Topperettes and the nationally-ranked WKU Cheerleaders, plus Big Red.

Free tickets to see Justin Moore in concert at E.A. Diddle Arena on October 25 will be given away throughout the evening to lucky WKU students and fans. WKU Athletics will also give away 500 Russell Athletic bracelets during the event.

Season and single-game tickets for both Hilltopper and Lady Topper basketball seasons are on sale now and can be purchased online at WKUSports.com or by calling the WKU Ticket Office at 1-800-5-BIG RED or 745-5222 locally.

The 2013-14 Hilltoppers return four starters and eight letterwinners from a 2012-13 squad that won 20 games and went to the NCAA Tournament after winning the Sun Belt Conference Tournament crown. WKU has been to two-straight NCAA Tournaments and 23 in its storied history and begins its 95th season of basketball in 2013-14.

The Lady Toppers return all five starters from a 22-11 team that reached the second round of the postseason and finished tied for second in the Sun Belt Conference in 2012-13. Among the top returnees are All-America candidate Alexis Govan, the third leading scorer in the nation last season among sophomores, and All-America candidate Chastity Gooch, the reigning Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Year. The team returns seven letterwinners and an additional player that sat out due to a medical redshirt in addition to six newcomers.
