The good news came randomly for Iowa Barnstormers wing Cortez Seales, but he's happy it did.
Western Kentucky offered the 6-foot-4 prospect on Tuesday, after a standout weekend at the Spiece Run-n-Slam.
"It (WKU's offer) was out of the blue, to be honest with you," Seales said. "I had never talked with them before until today (May 6).
"They told me about the school and all, asked me about recruiting, and told me that I had an offer. They told me about their history of winning, and how big basketball is in Kentucky, everybody knows that."
It was an "intense" 83-80 win, according to Seales.
As far as his college recruitment, the 2015 prospect feels it's just beginning.
"Everybody's pretty even," Seales said. "It all just started really.
"I just want to play for a good coach, location really doesn't matter because when you play basketball you're gonna be on the road all the time anyway, gonna have to get used to it."
Even with his packed AAU schedule, Seales said he'll make time for summer visits if a college program extends an invitation.
"Just whoever asks me to come down, we'll plan it out," he said. "I don't have a specific schedule right now."
WKUInsider will have additional coverage of Seales and his team at the Adidas Invitational in Indianapolis, Ind., scheduled for July 9-13.
