DeSales (KY.) linebacker Bryant Pirtle made it official Wednesday. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound junior committed to Western Kentucky.

Pirtle's offer from the Hilltoppers came a couple of weeks ago and it didn't take too long for him to go ahead and make an in-state pledge.

"Really, I just followed my gut," Pirtle said of his WKU commitment."

But why Western Kentucky? What caught the attention of Louisville native?

"Their program is on the rise. And it's close to home. I really like the coaches a lot. Coach Nord is the man. Coach Holt and Coach Brohm are great too," Pirtle continued.

Pirtle was also receiving interest from Kentucky, Toledo, Eastern Michigan and Ball State. But it sounds like recruiting is over for Pirtle.

"I'm pretty solid in my commitment to Western Kentucky," he finished.

Pirtle played defensive end for the 2A champions last season, racking up 66 tackles and 22 ½ sacks. He projects at linebacker on the next level.
