Former UAB players visit WKU

Former Blazer linemen Jontavious Morris, Roscoe Byrd were both in-attendance at WKU vs. Chicago State on Dec. 17.

Former UAB linemen Jontavious Morris and Roscoe Byrd were both in-attendance on Wednesday night for WKU's 75-60 win over Chicago State.

The duo played high school ball together at Albany HS (Ga.), before signing with the Blazers and graduating in the Class of 2012.

Morris, who's also heard from MTSU, UNC-Charlotte and Georgia State (according to AL.com,) played in 12 games for UAB as a true freshman, starting four.

He earned 20 tackles in 12 games played as a junior this season, including two for a loss, plus a fumble recovery and a blocked kick.

Byrd played in 10 games at defensive tackle as a true freshman before moving to offensive guard as a sophomore, then started all 12 games for UAB at left guard as a junior in 2014.

Current WKU assistant coach Neil Callaway recruited both standouts when he was head coach at UAB, securing their verbal commitments before he was fired from the position after the 2011 season, then hired at WKU by Bobby Petrino in Feb. 2013.

Updates on the duo's visit will be provided when available.
