Following a spring and summer visiting schools and attending camps, along with the rapidly approaching season, Summerville (S.C.) Ashley Ridge quarterback Steven Duncan is ready to make his final evaluations and make a college decision.
"Everything is going good in recruiting and I plan to make a decision soon," he said on Sunday afternoon.
Duncan has targeted the beginning of contact practice as the time to make his choice, allowing him the opportunity to put recruiting behind him and focus on his senior season.
Duncan informed WKUInsider.com that his plan is to "announce [his] commitment August 1."
The 6-foot-5, 230-pound pro-style quarterback has posted staggering numbers in his prep career and could eclipse the 10,000 career yards mark this fall. He was very impressive at the WKU satellite camp held in Gallatin, Tenn., last month.
With his decision date nearing Duncan admits to having a short of schools, but isn't prepared to publicly trim his list. Cornell, South Carolina State and Western Carolina are among his known scholarship offers, while WKU has continued to express a heavy interest.
Following his participation in the Western Kentucky camp, along with the relationship that he's built with head coach Jeff Brohm and his staff, Duncan had the Hilltoppers high on his list last month.
"It's a school that I really like and I could see myself at," he said in June.
