Caverna's Mason Faulkner a hot commodity

SUWANEE, Ga. - One of the hottest recruits from the Midwest in recent weeks has been Horse Cave, Ky., Caverna High School 2016 guard Mason Faulkner. After some solid play with Team Manimal, Faulkner is up to 11 scholarship offers.

One of the top players in the state of Kentucky has become a hot commodity on the summer circuit.

Horse Cave, Ky., Caverna High School guard Mason Faulkner is now up to 11 scholarship offers and interest from a bevy of other schools, including Western Kentucky, after two strong weeks with Team Manimal.

"It's crazy," Faulkner said. "I went basically from a nobody to somebody that everybody is contacting. It's really made a big difference in my life. It really is kind of crazy to think about."

The 6-foot-2 Faulkner said Samford was the latest school to offer, noting Eastern Kentucky, Morhehead State, South Alabama, Lipscomb, Tennessee Tech, SE Missouri State and Loyola are among his offers.

Faulkner said the WKU coaches told him they would be following him this summer.

"I've been there a few times for visits," he said. "I really like Western a lot."

Faulkner said he hasn't started to think about the process for making a decision, noting that his head is "spinning" because of all of the recent attention and phone calls.

"It's crazy but it's what I wanted," he said. "There's a lot of people coming to watch me play. I'm a pass-first guy, but I can shoot and jump at a high level. I think I've played really well."

As a junior, Faulkner averaged 23.8 points and 9.3 rebounds a game for Caverna.
