Western Kentucky University has landed commitment No. 8 in the football Class of 2016.
Hallandale, Fla., High School wide receiver Chris Cotto has given the Toppers a verbal commitment, giving WKU coach Jeff Brohm his second commitment from outside the state of Kentucky.
The 5-foot-10, 186-pound Cotto also had offers from South Florida, Liberty and Appalachian State.
"I loved the coaching staff, love the style they play and the atmosphere," Cotto said. "It was a great fit for me. I really liked the way they have been coming up in football, it's a great place."
Cotto, who had 10 scholarship offers, caught 32 passes for 405 yards and nine touchdowns last season at Hallandale. He runs a 4.65 40-yard dash and said he looked up some of WKU's numbers from last season.
"Those numbers were ridiculous," Cotto said. "It's the same offense we run here, so I think I will fit in well. I'm a receiver who can stretch the field but can also be a possession receiver if that's what they need."
