Western Kentucky men's basketball has added a pair of walk-on players and a new staff member, the school announced on Monday.
Former Clinton (Ky) County guard Keifer Dalton and Owensboro (Ky.) guard Dylan Sanford will both join the Hilltoppers roster this season.
Dalton, who averaged 17.8 points, five assists and three steals per game as a senior, completed his career as the Clinton County all-time leader in scoring, assists, steals, field goals and free throws.
Sanford, a member of Owensboro’s 2014-15 state championship team, averaged nine points and shot 42 percent from three-point range as a senior.
“Keifer and Dylan are high-character people both on and off the court,” Harper said. “They both had extremely successful high school careers, and as local kids they understand the history and tradition of WKU Basketball and what it means to put on the uniform every day. I am excited to have them in our program.”
The additions to the roster won't be the only new faces on The Hill as former Notre Dame standout Ben Hansbrough joins the staff as Coordinator of Player Development. In the role, Hansbrough will assist with academics, mentoring and film study, among other tasks.
“I am excited to join a winning tradition like the Hilltopper Basketball program,” said Hansbrough, who played professional ball with the Indiana Pacers and overseas. “Coach Harper and his staff are well established in college basketball, and I am really looking forward to this learning experience.”
