It's the first meeting between Rice and Western Kentucky on the football field.
The Toppers will travel to Houston to play the Owls in Rice Stadium on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. It's the second C-USA game of the season for the Toppers. Rice is coming off a 70-17 loss to Baylor.
The game features two high-scoring offenses. The Owls average 34.8 points a game on offense, while WKU averages 36.5. On the flip side, the WKU defense allows 25.5 and the Rice defense allows 38.
The Toppers are ranked fourth in the nation in passing yards a game at 399, while Rice is second nationally on third-down offense (60 percent) and seventh in kickoff return average at 32.6 yards a kick.
WKU has led in all but one game with head coach Jeff Brohm on the sidelines as either the head coach or an assistant.
The game should be high-scoring and exciting.
WKU quarterback Brandon Doughty led the NCAA in passing yards (4,830) and passing touchdowns (49) last season. He already has 1,591 yards and 11 touchdowns in four games this season.
The over/under for the game in Las Vegas is 72 points.
