West Oaks, Fla., 2016 guard Tobias Howard commits to Western Kentucky on visit

Western Kentucky University has landed its first men's basketball commitment in the Class of 2016. Tobias Howard committed to the Toppers while on his official visit on Saturday night. He tweeted out his commitment.

It was a good start to the season for the Western Kentucky men's basketball team.

The Toppers went through Hilltopper Hysteria on Saturday night and just before it started the staff received good news. Guard Tobias Howard, who was in Bowling Green on an official visit, made a commitment to the Toppers.

The 6-foot Howard is the first commitment in the Class of 2016.

"Blessed to say I'm verbally committed to Western Kentucky, I appreciate every staff and program that recruited me.. #Hilltopper," Howard said on his Twitter account.

A top target for WKU since the middle of July, Howard was recruited by assistant coach Chris Shumate. He's originally from Suwanee, Ga., but now attends West Oaks, Fla., Academy. He averaged 11.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists as the final adidas event of the summer in Suwanee, Ga., with the Toppers' staff watching him.

Harris, who confirmed his commitment on Saturday with WKU Insider, also had offers from Ole Miss and Loyola.
