With a significant portion of the 2015-16 roster expected to return next season, the WKU recruiting class for 2016 was expected to have a lower number of signees.
On Friday morning, Hilltoppers head coach Ray Harper announced the addition of guard T.J. Howard (6'1) of DME Academy in Daytona Beach, Fla., WKU's likely lone early signee. Previously a member of the Class of 2015, Howard is originally from Suwanee, Ga., where he prepped at North Gwinett through his junior season. He played at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. as a senior.
A Scout.com three-star prospect, Howard played for the Jerry Stackhouse Elite at the Adidas Gauntlet AAU Series over the summer and averaged 11.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and four assists per game.
“TJ is a guard who can play both the 1 and 2 positions," WKU head coach Ray Harper said. "He’s extremely talented, and we will need him to play early in his career, which we feel like he’ll be ready to do. He’s a shot maker, but he can also handle the ball and get others involved. We are very happy to add him to the program and cannot wait to have him on The Hill.”
Howard also considering offers from Mississippi, Loyola, Ill., East Tennssee State and Louisiana Tech before committing to WKU last month.
