School Record All-Conference Selections

A school record 17 members of the WKU C-USA Championship team received Conference USA All-Conference honors on Tuesday.

Six Hilltoppers highlight the C-USA All-Conference first team.  Quarterback Brandon Doughty, along with three other offensive standouts, receiver Taywan Taylor, tight end Tyler Higbee and offensive lineman Forrest Lamp, along with linebacker Nick Holt and kicker Garrett Schwettman, are all first team selections.

Running back Anthony Wales and returner Kylen Towner were both second team members.

Another six received C-USA All-Conference honorable mention honors in wide receivers Jared Dangerfield and Nicholas Norris representing the offense, with defensive lineman Jontavious Morris, linebacker T.J. McCollum and defensive back Prince-Charles Iowra, as well as long snapper Nolan Dowling.

Running back D'Andre Ferby, offensive lineman Dennis Edwards and punter Jake Collins were all C-USA All-Freshman selections.

Conference USA will announce the league's individual awards on Wednesday.

Bowl Practice Begins

After defeating Southern Miss 45-28 last Saturday to win the C-USA title, the Hilltoppers, now 11-2 on the season, needed some time off to rest.  The team will return the practice fields soon to begin preparing to face South Florida in the Miami Beach Bowl.

"We’re probably going to get back on Friday and begin practice," said WKU head coach Jeff Brohm. "[We’ll] probably practice Friday and Saturday, maybe take Sunday off, and then get back at it on Monday.”

WKU currently has 19 verbal commitments, so with an anticipated group that will count near 25, there isn't much room left for the Class of 2016.  The coaches have hit the road to make in-home and school visits this week, checking in with a few commits and priority prospects.

"The plan right now is we have our coaches out on the road recruiting," said Brohm. "Last week we didn’t get a chance to get out because of our championship game. We do feel like we’re pretty far along and things are going well."

WKU currently leads Conference USA's team rankings.
